Return Policies

Plain-English summaries of return policies from major retailers. How long you have, what condition the item needs to be in, and what gets refunded.

Amazon Return Policy

Most items can be returned within 30 days of delivery, with free drop-offs at 8,000+ locations. Refunds hit credit cards in 3 to 5 business days. Some categories have different windows; certain items can't be returned at all.

Apple Return Policy

Apple gives you 14 days to return most items. The product must be in its original condition with all accessories. Refunds go back to your original payment method within 5 business days of Apple receiving the item.

Best Buy Return Policy

Standard members get 15 days on most items; My Best Buy Plus and Total members get 60. Phones and tablets are 14 days for everyone. Some items carry a restocking fee; trading cards, prepaid cards, and opened bodily-contact products can't be returned at all.

Costco Return Policy

Costco's satisfaction guarantee has no standard return deadline for most items. Electronics and major appliances are the exception: 90 days from receipt. Cigarettes, airline tickets, precious metals, and Shop Cards can't be returned at all.

Home Depot Return Policy

Home Depot gives you 90 days to return most items. Major appliances have a 48-hour damage window. Credit card holders get a full year. Items must be unused and in original packaging for shorter-window categories.

Nike Return Policy

Nike gives you 60 days to return most US purchases. Returns are free for Nike Members. A few categories can't be returned: SNKRS Reserve orders, custom By You soccer jerseys, and Nike Clearance purchases are all final sale.

Walmart Return Policy

Most items can be returned within 90 days to a Walmart store, by mail, or by FedEx drop-off. Refunds go back to the original payment method. Major appliances have a 2-day window, electronics get 30 days, and a long list of items can't be returned at all.
